THE FALLACY - Goth'n'Chile

Chile has a word to say in the metal scene! Through The Fallacy, they try to show the world that gothic music is alive in that area aswell! They are now at their 2nd material and were kind enough to let me get all the answers i wanted! I'll let you guys discover what Angie, Marco and Niko have to say:

Hi guys! First of, could you tell us the story of your band ? There has been some changes in the line-up from the beginning till now.

The Fallacy started in May of 2007 only as a project, originally as a studio project, but after the songs were recorded Marco realised the songs had something interesting. So he decided to form a band for the project. Due the songs being already recorded, we tried different musicians to find the sound we needed. Finally Angeline does vocals and guitars, Niko plays the bass guitar, Marco guitars and vocals and occasionally a session drummer for live performances. With this line-up the second album ‘Beyond The Mist’ was recorded.

Angie, you are not the first vocalist The Fallacy had. How did you get in the band and how did you get along with your new band-mates?

I joined the band because the previous vocalist left and the band needed a female voice with some special characteristics and I matched perfectly. Marco and I have a friend in common so that’s how we met.It wasn’t my first time in a band so I was familiarized with team work, and the guys have always been very kind and respectful with me. We’re like a family now.

Marco, how did you guys get to choose this name for your new project? Does it represent something in particular?

The name was chosen looking for a concept to describe the human nature which is not perfect, ‘Fallacy’ is a perfect word to describe it and represents the change in all process and means a mistake in any operation.

Your 2nd album ‘Beyond the mist’ is your fresh material. How did the recordings for this new material work-out ?

While we were touring the ‘Falling Roses’ album we composed a new material. When it was ready (12 – 14 tracks) we started recording the new album. First of, we started slowly and during May and June we had full time sessions in the studio. Some songs like ‘The Meeting’ were ready in one session but others like ‘Otherside’ took more time because we weren’t satisfied with the sound at all, but finally we came up with the sound we needed. We were supposed to present it in Colombia in August so time was against us, it took hard work but we had tons of fun with it.

What are your favourite songs from this album?

Angie: My favourites are ‘Otherside’, ‘Do I have to pray’ and ‘Mechanic’ I feel very connected to these ones.

Marco: I like ‘Do I have to pray’ and ‘Confess’ because of the vocal and melodic work.

Niko: My favourites songs are ‘The Meeting’, ‘Otherside’ and ‘Before We Leave’ because I have lots of fun when we play them live.

You recorded a video for ‘Circles of Misery’. Why this song? What was the message you wanted to get across to your fans?

We chose ‘Circles of Misery’ because it has social content in the lyrics and we believe it combines the main elements of our music and the main principles of our world vision. The message we want to give is that there are other realities in the world and that we should look beyond our lives to see that there’s a lot of people that need help. Like the lyric says ‘you don’t have to be a martyr to help, a little smile can be a light for those people resisting the circles of misery’.

Do you plan on recording a 2nd video to promote another song from ‘Beyond the mist’?

Yes we do! We are working in the production of ‘Threshold of light’ video. The theme won’t be social this time, it will be about second chances presented in a dark way. We are very excited about shooting this video, we have an excellent collab team so we hope to have the best results.

How is the metal scene developing in Chile? Are you having success with your genre?

Chile has a very little metal and gothic scene, we are one of the few bands of this genre in our country. But we have fans who follow us because we fill an empty space for those people who like this kind of music and can’t find it here. We also have shows outside Chile so is not strictly necessary for us to have all our audience in our country.

The summer is coming. Are you guys booked already?

We’ll start our live performances in Quito-Ecuador in May and the other offers are not confirmed yet, but we’re ready to accept new dates everywhere!

Thank you for your time! Any message for the metalheads out there?
